We weren’t willing to stand for at least an hour, if not more, to go for one more ride to complete our three ride pass. By the time we had finished the second turn, the wait line was farther than the eye could see. At least the slide was padded, keeping collisions a little more soft. I loved the adrenaline rush of flying down the slick vinyl head-first, even if I bailed hard once and was accidentally kicked in the head. I sure wouldn’t take Madison next year when she turns five, unless there’s another option introduced for young kids. After all, you only have to be five years old (over 46 inches tall) to slide. It would be great if they worked out a way to have a lane for kids and their parents below a certain age so the little kids could enjoy it just as much.
Slide the City is a family friendly slip-and-slide water party event, though I saw an awful lot of kids getting taken out by others since it is near impossible to actually control your tube when you’re flying down at such fast speeds. And, just before it started, the sun came though for the party. “Here comes the sun!” the DJ yelled as we all waited for the slide to open so we could have our first run down a 1,000 foot slip-and-slide in North Vancouver that is over three football fields long! Getting up early that morning to a cloudy sky, we were all hopeful that the sun would break though and we would have some nice warm weather to slide to.
